Joanne Candlish

Asbestos Compensation Solicitor in Liverpool

Joanne Candlish is an industrial disease solicitor based in Thompsons' Liverpool office.  She specialises in personal injury claims involving asbestos related diseases and helps victims of asbestos from throughout the North West of England and North Wales to recover compensation.

Joanne works as part of Thompsons Solicitors' North West Region Asbestos Team and some of the most common cases she deals with involve asbestos-related lung cancer, asbestosis, pleural thickening and mesothelioma.

When a diagnosis of mesothelioma is made, the victim tends to only have a short time to live.  Joanne puts enormous effort into trying to ensure she recovers compensation for clients diagnosed with mesothelioma within their lifetime.  Sometimes this is not possible and she then continues with the claim, working on behalf of the relatives of the deceased.

As well as dealing with personal injury compensation claims for asbestos victims, Joanne campaigns to raise public awareness of the dangers of asbestos through work she does with the press and asbestos victims support groups.

Joanne is a senior litigator member of The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

Successful Asbestos Claims

Below you will find just a very small selection of some successful personal injury cases which Joanne has dealt with from the Liverpool office.

Mesothelioma Claim

Joanne's client in this case was a man who was diagnosed with mesothelioma.  His exposure to asbestos had happened many years earlier and although he didn't work with asbestos himself, he had to work in the vicinity of laggers who removed asbestos lagging from pipes and caused particles of asbestos dust to enter his working environment.

Joanne used her skill and experience in this case to recover £400,000 compensation for her client within his lifetime.  He sadly died shortly after the claim was settled but had peace of mind that his family had some financial security after his death.

Asbestos claim settled within 4 months

In this case Joanne's client was a man who had been diagnosed with mesothelioma after experiencing unexplained weight loss and breathlessness.  After test results showed mesothelioma caused by exposure to asbestos he had chemotherapy and radiotherapy carried out to try and extend his life but was told that there was no cure.

He decided to make a claim against his former employers who had negligently exposed him to asbestos decades earlier by allowing him to work in close proximity to laggers without any protection from the deadly asbestos dust they were creating by replacing the asbestos lagging on pipes around the industrial plant where he worked.

Joanne recovered compensation for the man only 4 months after he approached Thompsons for help and the case didn't have to be heard in court.
