Kevin's client in this case was a man who was injured at work when he suffered a crush injury to his foot.  He was moving a piece of heavy machinery in the workplace when a number of items stacked behind the piece of equipment, fell onto him.

The objects which fell onto him weighed approximately a tonne and the man sustained several fractures to his foot.

Manual Handling Injury

In this case, Kevin's client was at work and was trying to lift a box out of a machine so that maintenance could be performed.  The box was very large and heavy and the man had to stand on the machine and reach below his feet to pick up the box.

He felt a pain in his back as he did this and sustained a nasty back injury.

At first his employers were unwilling to admit liability for the accident and when they did make an offer of compensation it was very low.  Kevin used his skill and experience to increase the compensation to four times the amount originally offered.

Occupational Dermatitis Claim

Kevin's client in this case was diagnosed with occupational dermatitis caused by using a new alcohol gel hand cleansing product at work.  Her employers had started using the new product without carrying out any patch tests on the employees or advising them that as the product was much more abrasive than the last one supplied, they should moisturise their hands after using it.

The occupational dermatitis caused long-term problems to this lady and the injury could so easily have been prevented.  Kevin was successful in recovering compensation for her.
