Joanne Keen

Asbestos Claim Solicitor in Stoke-on-Trent

Joanne Keen is a solicitor based in Thompsons' Stoke-on-Trent office.  She has many years experience of dealing with personal injury compensation claims and now specialises in helping victims of asbestos related diseases and their families to claim compensation.

Joanne helps people from across central England to make compensation claims after they are diagnosed with asbestos related illnesses such as pleural thickening, asbestosis, asbestos related lung cancer and mesothelioma.

It is important that you instruct an experienced solicitor when making a claim for an asbestos related disease as they are very different to other types of personal injury claims.  Joanne often has to research her client's work history to find details of their exposure to asbestos.  As the exposure will have happened many decades before it often requires a lot of skill and experience to trace the insurers of the companies which may have long since ceased trading.

Successful Asbestos Claims

Below you will find just a very small selection of some successful personal injury cases which Joanne has dealt with in the Stoke-on-Trent office.

Mesothelioma Compensation

Joanne's client in this case was a man who was diagnosed with mesothelioma and sadly died while he was still only in his 60's.

He had been negligently exposed to asbestos by two former employers decades earlier when he was employed as a joiner and was expected to cut and fit asbestolux tiles and work around asbestos dust.  He had never been warned of the dangers of asbestos or provided with any protective equipment.  He had even asked one of his employers if the asbestos was dangerous and had been assured that it was not.

When he died, Joanne continued with his claim on behalf of his widow and she recovered £200,000 compensation for her.

Asbestos exposure from overalls

In this case, Joanne's client was the widower of a woman who had died after contracting an asbestos related disease.  She was only in her 60's when she developed the fatal asbestos disease, mesothelioma.

It was discovered that the woman's father had worked as a boilermaker / riveter on the railways and would frequently be covered in asbestos dust which he would bring home with him on his overalls.

Joanne was successful in recovering a substantial amount of compensation for the widower and his family.
