Miscellaneous Information
What is an interim payment?
An interim payment is a payment made, which only partially settles your claim for compensation. When a payment is made on an interim basis, it allows you to make use of the money, while other parts of your claim for compensation are still being considered.
You cannot claim any further compensation in relation to the same incident if the payment is made “in full and final settlement”, rather than as an interim payment.
See our interim payments page for more information or if you would prefer to telephone us you can reach us on 08000 224 224. Alternatively, you can complete one of our online personal injury compensation claim forms.
What does “No Win, No Fee” really mean?
Literally speaking, the term “No Win, No Fee”, means that if you do not win your claim for compensation, then you do not have to pay your Solicitors fees.
Despite popular opinion, “No Win, No Fee” does not always mean that your claim is being dealt with on a completely cost-free basis as the phrase does not mention what fees you would need to pay if you won your claim for compensation.
Unfortunately, the term “No Win, No Fee” has often been adopted by unscrupulous solicitors or claims management companies to mislead their clients into thinking that the service is cost-free. When the injured person’s claim is successful, their solicitor then issues them with an invoice or deducts a percentage of their compensation.
Thompsons Solicitors deal with claims on a completely cost-free basis.
