Jeff Lipman, 48, from Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire, was playing an extra in The Flood, an apocalyptic drama about global warming when the accident happened.
He was acting out a violent scuffle when he was pushed too hard by a colleague and he tripped over a discarded blanket. He fell, fracturing his left elbow.
The fall meant the self-employed actor was unable to work for seven weeks and he had to have surgery on his arm.
He still suffers pain in his elbow but has now returned to work playing an extra in the new Liam Neeson film, Clash of the Titans.
Following the accident he contacted his union BECTU which instructed Thompsons Solicitors to pursue a claim for accident compensation.
Flood Productions Ltd admitted liability and settled the claim out of court.
He said: "It was a silly accident which caused me major inconvenience. Being self-employed I can't afford to be injured which is why I decided to claim compensation.
"I am relieved the union was able to support my case and that Thompsons Solicitors brought it to a successful conclusion."
BECTU National Official Spencer MacDonald said: "This was a dangerous and hazardous scene and a stunt co-ordinator should have provided guidance on the best way to act it out safely. Many of our members are self employed and this shows just how vital union legal services are to them."
Andrew Hutson from Thompsons Solicitors added: "This accident may have been avoided had corners not been cut and a trained professional used to co-ordinate the scene safely. Additionally basic health and safety procedures like ensuring the floors are free from hazards would have lessened the risk of an accident."
