Firefighters injured at Work
Accident at Work Claims for FBU Members
There are many different ways in which FBU members and firefighters in particular are injured at work due to the dangerous situations they are often exposed to.
Below you will find a few examples of some of the most common personal injury compensation claims we deal with for injured firefighters.
Road Traffic Accidents
Training Exercise Injuries
Defective Safety Equipment
Fireground / Operational Injuries
Workplace Injuries
We can also help FBU members and their families with accident compensation claims where the injury has happened outside work such as accidents on holiday or accidents whilst out in a public place.
If you are unsure as to whether you will be entitled to make a personal injury claim or not, contact us for free advice. You can call on 08000 224 224 or complete one of our online personal injury compensation claim forms.
If you are injured as the driver or a passenger in a fire appliance or other fire service vehicle when it is involved in a road accident you may be able to make a personal injury compensation claim against the insurers of the person responsible for the accident.
It is obviously essential for firefighters to undergo training exercises which are as close as possible to the real-life situations they are likely to find themselves in whilst remaining safe throughout.
If the training exercises are not planned or executed properly or are unsafe, firefighters on training exercises can be injured.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is an essential part of a firefighter's job and can really make a difference in a life or death situation. If any of the safety equipment is missing or damaged, injuries can occur.
Fireground / Operational Injuries
Firefighters continue to be injured on the fireground and at other operational incidents such as RTAs they attend. Claims can be made in these cases against the employers and in some cases against the occupiers or, in the case of RTAs attended, against negligent drivers.
Firefighters can be injured at work in much the same as any other worker. Injuries can occur at the workplace whether due to defective premises, poor maintenance, spillages, inadequate cleaning etc. Slips and trips at work are not uncommon.
