Slip at Work
Corrina's client in this case was a man who was injured at work when he slipped on the factory floor. The man was walking towards a machine when he slipped on a pool of oil which had leaked from the machine and had not been cleaned up.
It was well-known within the factory that this particular machine leaked oil but instead of investigating the cause of the leak and arranging for it to be repaired, management had decided just to keep cleaning up the oil each time it leaked.
Unfortunately on this occasion the pool of oil was in a dark area of the factory and with the floor being made of metal, it became very slippery.
The man broke his wrist as a result of the fall and was left with restricted movement. Corrina was successful in recovering £50,000 compensation for her injured client.
Food Poisoning Claim
In this case Corrina represented two members of the same family who suffered food poisoning after visiting a restaurant together. The two had been part of a larger group celebrating a family birthday and had not eaten together for several weeks before this dinner and had not eaten together again after the dinner until they started to become ill. This factor made it easy to trace where the food poisoning had originated from.
The day after the meal they started suffering with stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea. Tests were carried out and it was discovered that they were suffering from campylobacter which is a very nasty form of food poisoning.
Corrina made a claim against the restaurant’s insurers and was successful in recovering compensation for both injured people.
