Successful Personal Injury Claims

Below, you will find just a few examples of personal injury compensation claims which Gwen has successfully handled from the Chelmsford office.

Brain Injury from Road Accident

Gwen's client in this case was a man who was knocked down by a vehicle as he crossed the road.  He suffered multiple injuries including a serious head injury which caused damage to his brain.

The man was in a coma in intensive care for several weeks and when he did come around he found that the injury had affected his memory and his ability to concentrate.  He was left extremely vulnerable from the injury and unable to look after himself.

Gwen dealt with this case on the injured man's behalf and worked closely with his family and his support workers.  Gwen recovered a six-figure sum of compensation for the man which was put into a trust fund to ensure he would be provided for financially for the rest of his life.

MRSA Infection

In this case Gwen's client was a man who had undergone a hip replacement operation many years earlier and needed to have the procedure repeated.  Confusion over the surgical equipment required for the operation meant that after the man had been opened up, his surgery could not be completed and he was left with an open wound for several days.  During this time he contracted MRSA and because of the delays then caused in treating the infection, the remainder of his hip replacement operation could not be carried out.

The man was left without a hip joint and now walks with a permanent limp.  Gwen recovered £400,000 compensation for him.

Spinal Cord Injury from Road Accident

Gwen's client in this case was a motorcyclist who was injured by the negligence of another driver.  The accident resulted in the man being classified as tetraplegic and requiring 24 hour care for the rest of his life.

Gwen first recovered interim payments to fund a specially adapted bungalow for the man and then arranged for a lump sum payment as well as periodic payments to pay for his ongoing care for the rest of his life.  The total sum of compensation was £3.2m.
