Ken's client in this case was a man who was injured at work while using a power saw.  He was cutting a long length of board on a bench not suitable for the job.  The board jerked and the client's hand was pushed into the blade of the saw amputating his thumb and some of his fingers.

Ken helped this injured man to make a claim for compensation but his employer denied responsibility and the case went to his local County Court.  Unfortunately the Court did not find in Ken's client's favour but Ken believed that the ruling was unfair and decided to take the case to the Court of Appeal.  The Court of Appeal decided that the man's employers had not provided him with suitable work equipment which caused his accident and he was awarded compensation to reflect the fact that he was permanently disabled and at a disadvantage in the labour market.
