Successful Personal Injury Claims
Below, you will find just a small selection of some of the personal injury compensation claims Allison has dealt with in the Nottingham office.
Paralysed following Accident at Work
Allison's client in this case was a man who was told to help a colleague dismantle a mezzanine floor. The man had no experience in this type of job and had received no training either. Whilst trying to lift the floor, he fell 15 ft, hitting his head on the concrete floor below.
He underwent brain surgery but was left paralysed down one side of his body and with physical disabilities so serious that he needed 24 hour care for the rest of his life.
This was a very difficult case to deal with as the man's employers refused to admit liability for the accident. When they did eventually admit liability, they were only willing to offer a low sum of compensation. Allison used her skill and experience to obtain a lump sum of almost £1m for the man which paid for an adapted bungalow for him and then also arranged annual payments to be paid each year for the rest of his life which will provide for his ongoing care needs. The total sum of compensation is expected to reach the £3m mark.
Car Accident resulted in Brain Injury
In this case, Allison's client was a passenger in a car when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree. Allison's client suffered various fractures including a fractured skull, together with a brain injury and other internal injuries.
He was left with serious spinal injuries and couldn't return to work.
Allison recovered a substantial sum of compensation for this man which took into account his future lost earnings.
Hit by Van at Work
Allison's client in this case was a man working within a compound at work when he was hit from behind by a colleague driving a van. He was knocked to the ground and the van drove over his leg.
He had been wearing his high-visibility work wear together with his safety hat and boots so could have done no more to protect himself.
His leg was very badly damaged with several fractures and he had to undergo surgery to place metalwork in the leg to hold the bones together. Following the surgery he had to use crutches or a wheelchair to get around and was told that his recovery could take some time.
Allison recovered a substantial amount of compensation for the man and following his accident changes were made at his workplace to create a designated safe route for pedestrians within the compound.
