John Hall

Asbestos Claim Solicitor in Southampton

John Hall is an experienced asbestos solicitor based in Thompsons' Southampton office.  He has many years experience of helping injured people make personal injury compensation claims and now specialises in cases involving asbestos related diseases.

Some of the most common cases John deals with involve pleural thickening, asbestosis, asbestos-related lung cancer and mesothelioma.  There is no cure for mesothelioma and following diagnosis, victims of this terrible disease usually have only a short time to live.

John uses all his skill and experience to investigate these cases as a matter of urgency and strives to recover compensation for his clients within their lifetime.  When this is possible, it often provides some comfort to the asbestos victim that some justice has been done and that their family will be financially secure after their death.

Claims for asbestos related diseases require a solicitor with experience as they are very different to other personal injury claims, particularly because the exposure to asbestos will have happened decades before and the companies involved with the exposure are often no longer trading.

John is a Senior Litigator with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

Successful Asbestos Claims

Below you will find just a few examples of successful asbestos claims which John has dealt with in the Southampton office.

Mesothelioma Compensation Claim

John's client in this case was a man who was diagnosed with mesothelioma after suffering unexplained shortness of breath when completing the simplest of tasks.  Several decades earlier during the 1960's and 1970's the man had been negligently exposed to asbestos by his employer at the time who had made the client unload sheets of asbestos from a flatbed truck without any protection or even a warning of the danger he was being exposed to.

John fought hard in this case and recovered a significant sum of compensation for the man before he died.

Asbestos compensation recovered for widow

In this case, John's client sadly died before his personal injury claim was completed but after his death John carried on with the claim on behalf of his widow and teenage children.  The man was only in his 50's when he died of mesothelioma caused by exposure to asbestos years earlier.

The man had worked at a locomotive plant and had been exposed to asbestos over the years while he worked there.  One exposure was whilst transporting parts from stripped out carriages which had become contaminated with asbestos dust and another was whilst transporting asbestos sheets which gave off a lot of dust.

The man was given no protection and no warning of the danger he was being exposed to by his employer.  John recovered £300,000 compensation for the man's family.

Feedback from a client

John works hard for each and every one of his clients and has a reputation for providing excellent customer care.

Below is an extract from just one letter of thanks he has received after successfully recovering compensation for the family of a man negligently exposed to asbestos by his former employers:

"It is a sad fact that we live in a society where complaints and criticism appear to be the norm. People are not, however, so quick to acknowledge those who go above and beyond their duties. It has been my pleasure to deal with such a person as Mr Hall. He is, in my opinion a valuable asset and a credit to Thompsons.

Mr Hall has at all times conducted himself professionally, whilst also showing an unusual aptitude of being able to put himself in the position of his clients. Clients that have lost loved ones due to the lack of duty of care shown by their relatives’ employees. He has at all times been sympathetic and empathic to the situation and pain that I have personally found myself to be in. He has always treated me as an individual and made me feel that he deeply cared about my situation. I inherited the claim for my father’s untimely death due to the fact that my mother died; something, that I never expected. Mr Hall recognised this and dealt with me in a very sympathetic manner; something that he has my absolute gratitude for. He made an extremely painful situation, just a little more bearable.

Mr Hall has in my opinion gone above and beyond his own duty of care when handling my father’s case and my own personal set of circumstances.

I am not a person who heaps praise where it is not warranted, but it is most definitely warranted here."
